Prof Jiří Drahoš
Prof Jiří Drahoš graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague and has been a professor of chemical engineering since 2003. From 2009 until 2017, he was Chairman of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where he had been working in various functions from 1973.
Jiří Drahoš is a member of the Learned Society of the CR and has won many domestic and international awards. He was repeatedly elected to the prestigious position of President of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. In 2012 he was awarded the Medal of Merit for the State in Science.
Jiří Drahoš was a candidate for the Presidency of the Czech Republic in the 2018 election. He currently is Senator for Prague 4, chairing the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions.
