Proceeds from ING Better Ball Classic donated to children

On 14 September 2009, the tournament ING Better Ball Classic took place in the new Prague City Golf Club in Zbraslav. The tournament, played as a “better ball” competition, was organized by ING for its clients. The proceeds from registration fees and voluntary contributions, which amounted to CZK 27,000, were donated to the ING Wholesale Banking Fund of Tereza Maxová Children's Foundation.

“The ‘best ball’ competition is one of the most popular tournament formats in the world but it is largely unknown in the Czech Republic. We have organized a tournament version of ‘better ball’ for our clients in which participants play in pairs,” says Rolf-Jan Zweep, CEO ING Bank ČR, and explains the rules of the game: “There are two players per team and they both play each hole with their own ball. After completing the hole, only better result of the two on each hole is recorded with handicaps of the players taken into account.”

The tournament was concluded with the proclamation of winners, who obtained valuable prizes sponsored by Golf USA. The winning team, Robert Chudoba, Senior Relationship Manager in ING Wholesale Banking, and Vojtěch Machač of Česká Rafinérská, reached an incredible net result of 55 strokes. Terezie Sverdlinová, Marketing and PR Director in Tereza Maxová Children's Foundation, accepted the check with proceeds from tournament fees on behalf of the foundation.

Prague City Golf Club in Zbraslav - Lipence, the first Prague’s 18-hole golf course, offers many special terrains, which makes it particularly attractive for players. For example, there are sandy wastes with red sand or spill-offs with thick clumps of grass typical of Scottish golf courses.
